Washington, Jan. 18. - The secretary of agriculture is informed that it is proposed to establish near Harrisburg, Pa., a big plant for the manufacture of beet sugar. The capital stock of $1.000,000 has been subseribed by local investors and by capitalists in New York and Philadelphia, who regard the beet sugar industry as one of the most promïsing investments offered at this time. The new factory will employ 200 operatives and consume 400 tons of beets a da y.
