PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS. A petition signed by Sarah E. Sheehan asking for the return of taxes alleged to have been wrongfully assessed was read and referred to the Finance Cointuittee. A petition signed by Mrs. P. L. Bodmer asking for the correction of deseriptiou of deed was read and referred to the City Attorney. .The report of the necessary sewer connections in the paving district vv;is read and referred to the Sewer Committee. ' Aid. Coon moved that the subject of the League of American Municipalities be laid on the table until the next session. Adopted. Aid. Sheehan asking tor the return of taxes wrongfully assessed would recommend that a warrant be drawn payable to the said Sarah E. To the Common Council: Your Committee on Finance to whom was referred the communication of Emma H. and John S. Orr asking for the return of taxes said to have been assessed upon an alley dedicated to the City of Ann Arbor would report that the alley was not so dedicated but is a private alley laid out for the beuefft of private property owned by the said Emma H. and John S. Orr, as the followiug dedication will show : DBDICATION. Know all men by these presents, that Emma H. Orr's and John S. Orr's subdivisión of a part of lots 7 and 8, block 2 south, range 10 east, Ann Arbor, Mich., the alley and court being for the use of the lots a, b, c, d, e, f. Witness our hands and seals this 31st day of December, 18%. Emma H. Orr, John S. Orr. Your Committee would therefore recommend that the prayer of the petitioners be denied. Chairman Cady presented an ordinance entitled "An Ordinance to Repeal an Ordinance entitled 'An Ordinance Relative to Governing and Controliug of the Cemetery of the Fifth Ward' passed June 7th,1875," which wasgiven its flrst reading by sections. Aid. Coon moved that the ordinance be passed to its second reading. Adopted as follows: Yeas - Aid. Moore, Hamilton, Grossman, Koch, Dell, Brown, Vandawarker, Rhodes, Soule, Coon, Cady, Pres. Luick - 12. Nays- None. Whereupon the ordinance was given its second reading by sections. Aid. Sweet entered. SEWERS. To the Common Council: Your Committee on Sewers are of the opinión that the engineering torce of the City is costiüg the City too much money and would recommend that the Board of Public Works be asked to make a report to the Common Council at its next meeting of the number of employees necessary in that departtnent.
