The directors of the Waehtenaw Mutual Fire Insurance Co. met at the office of the secretary Friday and allowed several claims for losses by fire. Charles Wheelock and wife, of Salem, were allowed $200; Naomi Darling, Augusta, $123; Wm. A. Dancer, Lima, $15; Edwin Vorce, Ypsilanti, $400. The claim of John V. N. Gregory, of Lima, for the total loss of his barn and contents by fire caused by sparks from a threshing engine in which wood was being burned, was referred to three arbitrators. The rules of the company require that coal shall be used.
