"Africans, " writes a nrissionary, "have some very striking expressions, showing that they are full of poetical ideas. The Moongues cali thunder 'the sky's guu,' and the morning is vvith them 'the day's child. ' The Zulus cali the twilight 'the eyelashes of the snn.' An African who came to America was shown some ice, which he had not seeu bef ore, and he called it 'water f ast asleep. ' "
