The Kennebec Journal tells this story about a Haine man named Godsend Lufkin: "His grandfather died bef ore ae was bom, leaving in trust " a large property to the first grandson, then unoorn. None of his four sons were at the time married, but they hustled around and soon removed that impediment. This queer named individual was the irst grandson of the old gentleman to raake his appearanoe on earth, and his mother remarked to the clergyman at the baptistu that he was a godsend. The clergyman uudorstood that was to be the name and so christened him. "
