For some time past Mrs. Geo. P. Wrigbt, of Anu Arbor, aud Mrs. Cüas. Lawrence, of Cioswell, had been planning to give their father, James Weir, of Bridgewater, a surprise on his 76th birthdav, Feb. 15. It was hoped that Mr. Wright, who bas been ill so long, wonld be able to drive over to the old home but wben it was found that this must be given up, the tables were turned and the surprise was given to the daugbers instead of their fatber. Mrs. Wright was persuaded to go to Detroit to meet her sister, parties from Ann Arbor volunteering to remain with Mr. Wright till her leturn. Meanwhile he had planned for Mr. and Mrs. Weir to drive over during her absence and surprise the sisters on their return. This was done, the surprise was oomplete and the occasion a very happy one, all wishing Mr. Weir many happy returns of his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Weir reoeived very nice tokens of esteem from thfi daughter and after two days pleasantly speut together, returned to theii home.
