A farmer had secured an appointment as lightkeeper iu a Maine coast lighfchonse. The first night he went on duty he lighted up protuptly at dusk and at 11 o'clock carefully extinguished the lamp. The next day, of course, there was trouble, and when he was taken to task he replied that he supposed 10 o'clock was late enough to keep the light going, as he thonght that all honest men should be in bed at that hour.
