Perhaps the best kiiown beard in the United States is that of ex-Senator Peffer of Kansas, which was said to measure three feet long, but there are many â– which exoeed that in size. The museums frequently contain men 5 feet and over whose beards sweep the floor when they stand up, but perhaps the longest of all is that of Legrand Larow of Lamar, Mo., which is said to exceed any other in the world. It is seven feet in length and has measured ty2 feet. Mr. Larow was bom in Tompkins county, New York, in 1852, and his relatives are noted for heavy beards, but not extraordinary length. He is 6 feet in height and weighs 1 75 pounds. When standing with his beard dowu, it exteuds two feet upon the floor. He has not shaved for over 20 years.
