Tnesday evening Aun Arbor Caiup, M. W., aDd Lombard Camp, JR. N., held their first anniversary banqnet in the spacious lodge rooms of their order and had a most enjoyable time. At 8 o'clock when Re7. W. L. Tedrow asked the blessing, about 400 people had assembled, aad a merry party it was. After the excellent supper had beea fully enjoyed Toastniaster E. S. Gilmore called the assemblage to order and introdnoed Mayor Hisoock as the first speaker. His toast was "Ont of the Woods, " and while he did not probably stick to his text, he made a good epeeoh. Miss Emma E. Bower madean excellent defense of the qnestion "Can a Woman Keep a Secret?" John W. Bennett spokeof "The Ax and lts Mission." He was followed by Dr. Jennie Hughes who gave a brief accoant of the Royal Neighbors, which now has 30,000 members. Enoch Seats, who was the first one to introduce the Modern Woodmen into Ann Arbor, responded to the toast "Tbe Modern Woodmen of America." The order now uumbers 27,000 beneflciary and 20,000 social members. P. J. Lehman told of "The Goat and lts Mission," and Judge H. Wirt Newkirk closed the speaking with an aocurate desoription of what he knew about "Log Rolling" (presumably political). The toasts were interpsersed with musio by Sidney Martin, Master Fred Daley, Mei Gillespie, the Ann Arbor MandolĂ­n and Gnitar Clnb, and dialect ecitations by Sam Blnntach. The banqnet closed witb the benediction prononnced by Rev. VV. L. Tedrow.
