Street Railway Ordinance

The eouncil at its meeting on Monday evening granted the Detroit, Ypsilanti & Ann Arbor Railroad a franchise in this city ïor 30 years with the privilege of a loop around the court ;iouse square, which, however, is to be used by other roadsthat may come into the city in the future by the payment of certain fees. They are also to use steel ties on concrete foundations, as per city speciflcations, and grooved :ails and iron poles on all streets that may now or hereafter be ordeied paved ay the common eouncil. They are, also to furnish f ree transportation to all pólice officers and members of the 3re and engineering departments while on duty, also to letter carriers until such time as provisión for their .ransportation shall be made by the United States post office departtnent.
