One of the most extrsordiuary things about fi'Og music is the fact that the irog keeps his mouth closed wben he ia einging. He can sing through his skin. He is provided with a pair of resonant chanv bers like drums, and he makes bis musió by snapping his máseles against the distended membranes. Then he can breathe through his skin and supply all the ■wind that is ueoessary without opening his moutb. A French scieutist, after long listening in the woods, has made out aud reduced to writing the song of the irog, or "swamp music," as he calis it, aud bas discovered that the frog repertory is varied and extensive. Frogs can oarry on conversations at long distances and can communicate to each other emotious of fear or auger. Their songs, however, are all love songs and are only indulged in wbeu there are female frogs about.
