Snperrisor Voorheis, of Superior, is a good man for that townsbip to reeleot. Dan Seyler is a good man to elect in iiodi and it needs a good man to suoceed Gupervisor Wood. C. L. Tuomey has been supervisor of Ann Arbor town before and a good one. Be sbould be eleoted tbis year. : The Register tbis week booms ouly two candidates for supervisor, viz., Col. Henry S. Dean and G. Frank Allniandinger. Well said, Senator Tburston : : "Let tbe men wbo worsbip tbe dollar stand aaide and tbose wbo worsbip tbe flag follow it." Saline tbis year bas a chanoe to do a good thing in eleoting one of ber best, most aotive and enterprising oitizens, George J. Nissle, as supervisor. Tbe democrats bave presented excellent ward tickets and sbonld seize tbe opportunity to eleot tbem. They need not be asbamed of any of their oandidates and in tbe interest of economical administraron sbonld eee tbat they are eleoted. . Tbe good people of Sylvan sbould see tbat H. Ligbtball is again returned to tbe board of supervisors. It would be a distinct loss to tbe board sbould hé fail to return. His work as chairman of tbe board gives him an influenoe whioh redounds of the credit of tbe township. He is a straight up-auddown good man. Eli W. Moore, of the Ann Árbbr Argicultural Works, returned last nig'ht from an extended business trip tbrough tbe east. While in Philadelpbia' ne visitad the navy yard tbere. He says tbe preparations foi war are amazing. - Times. But isn't Mr. McKinley afraid tbat Spain 's spusitive feelings may be hurt by these preparations or that she may be put to tbe expense of erecting another submarina mine. Sheriff Judson bas filed a legal notice on tbe Aun Arbor Register demanding a retractioD of tbe arricies which have appeared against him. The Register tbis week praotically declines to retraot and it is expected tbat a libel suitwijl follow. The Register intimates that it bas some more ammunition in the conrse of preparation and advises tbe sheriff to hold off until be gets some more material on which to base his snit. However tbey didn't exposé much of it tbis week. To add to the general peace and harmony in the republican camp the Pingreeites are pitching into the McMillanites in words of which the 'following editorial from tte Xeue Washtenaw Post is a sample: "Our state legislature presents at -present a strange speetacle. Many of the legislators are striving by every art known in politics, to prevent the governor from compelling the railroad corporations and other large monopolies from paying their just proportion of taxes. They ref use to give the people relief from one of the most unjust tax systems known in modern times. They insist on discriminating in favor of non-resident bondholders and large capitalista as against the common people. Is it therefore any wonder that the latter claim that they have been Jmbed and corruyted by the power of money or the promiseof office when 99 out of every 1Ü0 taxpayers in Michigan demand of their representatives a fair and equitable tax law ? Why do you suppose they cannot get it ? yhy do suppose these poliücal Benedict Arnolds deny their constitutents reasonable request ? One would think that they would fearto return to theii constituepts after such a gross betrayal of their rights. When United States senators will corrupt legislators andstri ve lo perpetúate an unjust tax system by bribing state senators with lucrative federal offices, then it is time tor the people to arise and cast down the party that is represented by such corrupt leaders.
