The Supreme Court

Jnstice Brewer has noted some curious coincidences in regard to the members of the supreme court. The judges are seated on the bench on either side of the chief justice in the order of the date of their appointments, the senior at the right, the second at the left, and so on. Before the retirement of Jnstice Field on the right of the chief justice were seated the three colors, Justices Gray, Brown and White. None of the associates who sat on the right of tbe chief justice had children. Every associate who sat on the left had a large faniily, and all out Judge Peckham had grandchildren.
