Yearly Synopsis- Total number, 45; Nativity, Am. 81, Afro-Am. 5, Eng. 1, Scotch 1, Welch , Italian 1; Dif. Diseases or conditions 31; number of visits 191. Since the last report one party ha been placed in the county house and steps have been. taken to have some of the children re f er red to and the same sent to the Reform school at Adrián it is hoped that such action will b& effective. It will tie seen in the tabulated report that in this department of the citv Rovernment there have been more patients treated than in the months eovered by the last report but fewer visits havs been made owing to the different nature of the cases. The results on the whole bave been quite sati3factory. The total expense of this office to the city has been $111.25. Being unable to flnd any recora of previous years it ia impossible to say as to whether the expense is greater or less than before. (Jare has been taken to make the expense as low as possible. During the year several cases havs applied for treatment whose condition was such as to require the advantagesof a hospita!. As there was no money providecl by the city for tho care of such cases at t he hospitals, the professors at the beads of the respective departmentp to which tbey werp assigned and friends subscribed sufficidnt .to keep such patients until tbey could becared for outside. As a city, we are much in need of & place where we can send our worthy sick poor who need hospital care, ana pteps should be taken to supply one. When the $25,000 was donated by the city for the erection of a hospital, "tobe known as univeraity hospital," nowritten provisión was made íor a separate ward or bed to be used by the city. At the time the question was under consideration, jointly by the citizens and raembers of the'Board oí Regento of the universioy, there was a verbaj understandidg that two beds be set apart for the city's use. It seems that baving the talent, skill and appliancesat our command, steps should be taken to avail ourselves of this opportunity and see that some room De reserved for our city's use.
