Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, will be more generally observed throughout tbe whole length and breadth of the coantry than bas been done in many years previously and Washtenaw connty is no esoeption to this general rule. At Dexter a new soldiers' monument is to be dedicated, the dedicatory address being tnade by Rev. C. T. Alien. At Chelsea, W. W. Wedemeyer will deliver the address and tbe day will be appropriately observed at other places, ín Ann Arbor Weloh Post, No. 137, G. A. R., bas tbe direct management of affairs and the following aie the general orders issued by W. B. Smith, commander of Welch Post, which give the program tbat will be oarried ont in the observanoe of the occasion : lst. Iu obedience to general orders frotu nationaJ and department beadquartes, Memorial Day will be observed by Weloh Post. Comrades wil! assemble at tbe post rooms on Sunday morniug, at 10:00 a. m. sharp, for the pnrpose of attending a memorial sermón at the First Baptist churcb, to be delivered by Rev. T. W. Yonng, pastor of the chuob. The Woman's Relief Corps and Joe T. Jacobs Camp, S. of V., areoordially invited to attend these services. All soldiers and sailors of the late civil war residiug iu this oity and vioinity, not members of Welch Post, are also invited to meet with us at the post rooms, corner of Main and Washington sts., and attend services with os at the churcb. 2d. On Monday, May 30, at 10 o'oloek a. m., a öetachmeut will be conveyed from tbe post rooms to St. Thomas' cemetery wbo will tbere decórate the graves of onr deoeased comrades. At 1 o'oloek p. ra., all comrades and Sons of Veterans will meet at the post rooms, and at 2 o'clock will maren to the Fifth ward ceemtety and decórate tbe graves of deceased comrades. An address will be deliveied by Rev. J. T. Sunderland. The procession will rotura to the Miobigan Central depot and will there be conveyed in street cars to Forest Hill cemetery wbere the graves of deoeased comrades will be decorated and services held in aooordance with the ritual. Welch Post, G. A. R., cordially extends an invitation to the city offioials and military, fraternal and otber organizations of the city to join in these servicus. 3d. All comrades and offioials, and otber organizations will assemble in the chapel, at University hall, at 7:30 p. in', sbarp, and proceed to the anditafium to attend the public exercises to be held there. Hon. A. J. Sawyer will deliver the address and national and patriotic songs will be sung by soine of our best singers. Let us show by our presence at all these services that our fallen comrades are still beid in grateful romein branca as martyrs to the cause of liberty and the pieservation of the Union of ail the States. School children and comrades and citizens geuerally are requested to bring fiower to the basement of the oourt house and the fifth ward cemetery oñ Monday morning at 9 o'clock, where members of tbe Woman's Relief Corps will prepare them for deoorating the graves.
