The flrut aunual contest of tb e Peninsular Oratnrical Leagne was held Satnrday evening ia Newberry hall and was presided over by Hon. Levi L. Barbaar, of Detroit. President Mosher, of Hillsdale college; P.rof. Webb, of Albion ooilege, and Prof. Buruham, of Albion college, acted as jadges of thongbt and composition, while Hon. J. E. Hammond, of Lansing; Rev. Dr. Master, of Jaokson, and Prof. Fred. Ingraham, of ïpsilanti, acted as jadges of delivery. The judges' decisión gives the six representativos the following rank : S. Wells ütley, Detroit, first; Milton W. G-uy, Ann Arbor, seooud ; George P. Sweet, Grand Rapids, third; Robert Knight, Kalainazoo, fonrth ; Fannie Kerngood, Saginaw, E. S., fifth; Frank L. More, Bay City, sixth. Bay City was chosen as the place for holding the next meeting. The officers have not yet been elected for tbe ensning year, bnt Detroit is privileged to namfl the president, Grand Rapids the seoretary, Bay City the treasarer, Kalamazoo the flrst vioe president, Saginaw, E. S., seoond vice; Ann Arbor third vioe.
