On Tuesday next the taxpayers of School District No. 1, Ann Arbor, will be called to vote on a qnestion which will iuvolve the bonding of the district in the snm of f14,000. This is brought about by the orowded oondition of the schools in the seoond and sixth wards whioh compels the sohool board to rnaintain foor rooms in buildings not ntended for school ose. The heating plant of the fourth ward school is not at all a satisfactory working one and it bas becorne neceBsary to replace it with one ruorej modern and effective. A house fur the janitor of the sixth ward sohool is also needed. To do tbis work 114,000 is necessary and sbnuld be granted by the people of Ann Arbor, wbo always have the improvetueatof oureducational system at heart. The manner in whioh the bonds are to be paid has not been deoided on yet, bnt it is probable they will be made payable at the rate of f2,000 per year, payments to commence at the end of the next year after the last payment on the bonds that are now running. The rate of interest on the bonds will be 4 per cent. As the board is at present paying 245 a year for rent of the rooms oooupied for extra sohool rooms, it will be seen that that is a good portion of the 560 interest per year that will accrue Dn the bonds. The tases will not be ncreased as the payment of the bands will not commence nntil tbe present issue is all paid up, wbich is another jrgument in favor of the issue. All iu all it looks to be a good busijess policy to vote tbe snm asked for ay the school board at tbe special meetng to be held next Tuesday eveniug at ï :30 o'clock in the circuit court room n tbe court house.
