A Veteran Showman Visits Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor had a distingniahed visïtor this week in George F. Bailey, the veteran showman, now 80 yeara of age but hale aud bearty and taking a keen interest yet in bupiness affairs. Mr. Bailey was visiting George Haviland, who for five years was his financial manager. Mr. Bailey waa known in shoemen's oirclea as one of the famons "flatfoots," who were business men and well-to-do, who paid all their bilis wbether tbe shows paid or not. In 1876, the "flatfoots" bonght a half interest in P. T. Barnnm'a great show, and for five years Mr. Bailey ruanaged this show in which time it made a great deal of money, although it had been a losiug vantnre prior to bis taking the management. For the past 18 years he has not buen in the circus bnsness. Mr. Bailey left Wednesday for Chicago, from whence he goes forth for three months to Colax, Iowa.
