' Off Santiago, Cuba, July 12. - Colonel Henry L. Turner's First Illinois regiment, consisting of 1,350 Chicagoans, has landed on Cuban soil. With the .Fïrst came 930 recruits for the reguJars and several batteries of artillery. The men are all in excellent spirits, and declare that they are anxious to get to the scène of hostilities. An immense supply of provisions and ammunition was brought by the transports. TSie fleet consisted of the City of Macon, Gate City, Hudson, Comanche, TTnionist and Specialist. It was coniroyed by the gunboats Machias and Wilmington and the tug Leyden.
