Sheriff Jndson again sbowed how slick a politioian he was, even if be did not sncceed, and editor Moran is patting himself on the back over wbat be calis Jad8on's defeat. Tbe lion and the lamb roay be getting ready to lie down togerher. Wedemeyer's nomination wonld have meant many votes for the repnblioan ticket in tbis connty. Tbat he was not nominated is a great relief to the prospectivo democratie ooanty nominees and a great source of regret to the prospeotive repnblioan nominees. The JeadiDg oandidates in the late repnblioan convention were kindly treated. Eacb in turn as be veas regarded as in the lead beoame the foons of united opposition and after all was over were compelled to try to cover tbeir bieeding wounds froin the gaze of the convention. Each one of them knew however that he had more loyal supporters in the convention than did the sncoessfnl candidate.
