Tbe Michigan State Boai-a of Health respeotfully recorura8nds to all school boards aud other officera and persous having in charge assembly rooms, tbat they oause to be observed the followiug methods of care, in the interest of public health. Tbat the regular care of school rooms iriclades sprinkliug the floor hefore sweeping, the snbseqnent dusting of desks or 'niping them with a olean damp cloth, and the airing of the room before its nse. That interchaugeof books be allowed only onder such conditions as render tbe transmission of disease impossible. That the use of slates be disoontinued. That persons known to be affeoted with tuberculosis of the lungs, or who persisteatly cough and expeotorate, be denied the piiveleges of sucb room either as a teacher or pupil. That all spitting upou the floor by any person be strictly forbidden, and that proper conveniences for receiviug sputa be supplied. Tbat, at least once a year, the room aud conteuts be thoronghly disinfected, the woodwork aud floor washed with an antiseptio solutioD, the walls white washed, and tbe plumbing aod ventilatiĆ¼g inspected.
