Massacre In Porto Rico
Ponce, Porto Rico, Aug. 16. - Six Porto Ricans, accompanied by a priest, arrived at Coamo from Cíales, thirty miles northwest of that place. They had walked all the way across the mountains. They reported that Spanish soldiers. crazed by liqour, carne from Maniti to Cíales. An improvised American flag had been raised on the plaza. The sight of lt so enraged the Spaniards that they attacked with machetes all the raen, women and children they cculd find. They killed or wounded about ninety persons. Then they sacked the town. The priest asked General Wilson to send aid. There is no road to Cailes from the south. The population is 1,200. The people.in that section fear that there will be many Spanish outrages during theperiodpreceding evacuation.
