We have fonnd by analysis that the average pomace of California grapes is worth about $2. 50 per ton as fertilizer, counting nitrogen, potash and phoaphoric acid. When allowed to lie out in the open air fermenting, the loases by bleaching and evaporation reduce tbis value to the extent of $1 to f 1.50. Pomace is therefore eminently worthy of being saved as a fertilizer and can readily be preserved by siJoing in case the farmer is not ready to plow it in
