The truth of the adage about constant dripping wearing away a stone is strikingly illustrated ia the fact that the NiƔgara river has been 36,000 years catting its channel 200 f eet deep, 2,000 feet wide and 7 miles long through solid Tock. Evidence is conclusivo that the f alls were f onnerly at Qneenstone, seven miles below the present situation. It has been proved that they have not reoeded more thaii one foot a year for the last half a century.
