? The annnal school meeting of School District No. 1, Ann Arbor, was held Monday and there being only one ticket in the'field a light vote was cast, only 109 voters partioipating in the election. The polls were closed at 2 o'clook, the votes coanted and the resnlt partially declared, when it was found that the notice of election oalled for the polls to be open uutil 3 o'clock. The polls were reopened and a dozea more votes cast. the final resnlt being as follows: Jnnins E. Beal, 105; Anna B. Bacb, 104; Christian Maok, 103; John V. SheehaĆ¼ (to fill vacanoy) 95; J. C. Finney, 2; H. J. Brown, 2; J. K. Hauailton, 1 ; F. Pistorins, 1 ; W. D. Hatriman, 1 ; Mrs. B. A. Hinsdale, 1 ; John Lawrence, 1. Mr. Sheehan was elected to fill a vaoancy whioh did not exist at the time of the eleotion, Mr. J. T Jacobs not having filed nis resignation. Still it is not probable that thero will be any objeotiou to Mr. Sheehan's aoting as a naember of the board. The uniform system of text books was voted down by a vote of 99 to 3. At the business meeting after the voting, only 18 were present. The meeting anthorized the spreading of $36,000 upon the tax rolls and also anthorized the board to float 15,000 worth of four per oent bonds for improvements in the buildings and for janitors, bouses at the Bach, Tappan and Fourtb ward Rchools. The snm of 500 was voted for the publio school library.
