On Tuesday, Eugene K. Frueauff, of W. Huron st,, had a delightfnl short cali froia his friend, ex-Ald. Gilbert Lyon, of Owosao. Mr. Lyon was on his way home from a visit with an aged annt at Delhi. Be is one of the oldest and best known attorneys in Shiawasse connty. His opinión is always recognized by his brother attorneys as of great value. He is a great lover of ture, being an expert fisherinaii and b untar. He has an excellent memory which is replete with iuteresting reminisoenoes of people and local history. He is a son of the late Daniel Lyon, who lived on the oíd Captain Houston farm on the Dexter road just. wesc of the oity. Here Mr. Lyon spent bis boyhood days. An interesting story is told of his father, Daniel Lyon, who was a rneraber of the Ann Arbor Baptist churoh. When the first Baptist ohnrch was to be built, the qnestiou of Che parchase of briok oaine np. Williatn Maynard offered to snpply the brioks to the society at cost price. The eider Mr. Lyou wanted to kuow what this was, and upon hearing he delared it was too high, he would make the brick himself. He clearod off an old briokyard on bis farm and hired a briok maker. Soine other people wanted briok whioh he snld at a profit. The resnlt was that he fnrnished the briok to the Baptist sooiety ftee of oost. Gilbert Lyon is a gradúate of the University of Michigan. He was vury runoh pleased with the paving being done on Main st. AmoDg the people of Air. Lyon'a day there are now only a few left, such as Dudley Loomis and Daniel B. Brown.
