The repnblican legislativo convention in the seoond district of this conuty held at Saline Tuesday, resnlfced in another Judscn-Pingrea viotory, John K. Campbell who had made au exoellent representativa baing turned dowu and A. J. Waters, of Manchester, nominated in his plaoe. H. D. Platt, of Pittsfield, was made onairtnan of the oonvention and E. P. Goodriob, of Ypsilanti, seoretary. S. S. Bibbins, of Angosta, made a very eloquent speech in presenting the ame of John K. Campbell for renominaton. Rev. D. R. Shier presented A. J. Waters. The informal ballot resnlted Waters 56, Campbell 50. The formal ballot resuted Waters 55, Campbell 51. Sheriff Jndson had put up a hard flght whioh won altbongh by a narrow margin. Waters in aooepting the nomination promised to support Pingree's railroad taxation bilis and advocated the eleotion of U. S senators by popular vote. If he is a trae blue Pinereeite he should leave the selectinn of senators to the governor - as Pingree is striving to select them anyway. Shriff Judson was present at the onvention and took a prominent part in the anti-oonvontion work.
