Marriage, according to Dr. Schwartz, of Berlin, is the most Important factor in longevity. Of every 200 persons ■who rech the age of 40 years 125 are married and 75 unmarried. At 60 years the proportions are 48 to 22; at 70 years, 27 to 11, and at 90 years, 9 to 3. Fifty centenarians had all been married. The doctor asserts that the rate of mortality for husbands and wlves between the ages of 30 and 45 is 18 per cent, while that for unmarried persons is 28 per cent.
