The first district representativa oonvention met in this oity at 11 o'clock Saturday, when E. B. Norris oalled the oonvention to order and named E. A. Nordrnan, of Lima, as ohairrnan. L. J. Liisemer was made seoretary and the following oornrnittees appoiuted : Credentials- S. W. Beakes, ' Fred Vogel and Hichael Brenner. Permanent Organization and Order of Business - Charles Bates, Thos. ,MoKone and Seward Crauier. After adjonrnment for dinner, tbe convention reassembled. The committee on credentiale reported the credentials from every town and ward in tbe distriot. The committee on permanent organization reported in favor of making the temporary offioers permanent and doing away with nominating speeches. Thos. McKone, of Sylvan, Christian Carey, of Ann Arbor, and Charles Morris, of Soio, were made tellers. Two ballots were taken resulting: First ballot- N. Sntton 36, W. D. Harriman 23, W. G. Doty 14, 3. L. Duffy 3, H. Lighthall 2, Philip Daffy 2, C. H. Manly 1, H. T. Morton 1, William Walsh 1. Second ballot- SnttoD 47, Harrimau 23, üoty 10, Ligbthall 4, Dnffy 2, Manly 1. Mr. Sntton, a prominent Northfield farmer, was declared the unanimous nominee. The representativo oominittee appointed by the chair was E. B. Norris, of Ann Arbor, Byron Whittaker, of Soiu, and H. Lighthall, of Sylvan.
