The annual visit of the board of supervisors to the county house is always made the occasion of a general mellowing of the austere dignity which characterizes the members of that body, when they are auditing the bills of county creditors and settling with county officers. The hard shell of propriety is frequently cracked and, as a matter of course, the new members upon the board are made to furnish entertainment for the party. One of the female inmates has a fondness for young and handsome supervisors. Of course it was not in accordance with any previously arranged plan that Supervisor G. Frank Allmendinger and Theo. Reyer were steered along the corridor to the women's room. As soon as her eyes rested upon Frank's mobile countenance she exclaimed, "Yes, I will marry you, but, " turning to Reyer, "I don't want anything to do with you. I can see by your face that you have been married before and I don't want any warmed up potatoes on my plate. "
