Robert Gutekunst, a 13 year oíd lad' was aooidentally shot and killed in Pittsfleld Monday afternoon. Robert lived with bis step-fatber, John Guteknnst on Prof. J. B. Steere's farm in Pittsfleld. He was assorting potatoes, when trof. Steere's son, James A. Steere, a 17 year old lad, rode over on bis bioycleasd borrowed an old niusket whioh had been made over into a Dreeohloaing shot gun, whioh was in ;he potito cellar. He got it and one cartridge and wandered abont looking :or sparrows, meanwhile amnsing 1 self putting tbe oartridge in tbe gnn and taking it ont. Retorniug he talked with Gntekunat and thought that he lad the oartridge in bis pocket. Suddenly tbe gun wont off and young Guteknnst feil aad died alruost instantly. The charge of shot whioh did not soatter, grazed bis chin and breaking the collar bone passed throngh bis richt -ung. The boys had always been the sest of friends and there is no doubt of the deiith being an aocidental one. Coroner Ball held au inqnest Wednesday aud the jury rendered a verdict that ;he shooting was aooidental. Dr. Joe 3all held the postmortem examination.
