Declarations Filed Against Two of the Rough Writers.

On Monday Deputy Sheriff Lester H. Canfield began a libel snit for $5,000 against G. Frank Allmendinger because the latter wrote a newspaper article stating that Canfield's "forte lies in illegally pulling poultry off from a poor man's hen roost rather than in detective work. " Lehman Bros. & Stivers are the attorneys of the plaintiff.

Sheriff Jadson later in the week, by his attorneys, Arthur Brown and T. D. Kearney, filed his declaration against Selby A. Moran in his libel suit for $10,000. This suit grows out of the bitter personal attacks made by the Register upon the sheriff and singles out the well advertised article "tampering with ballots," in which the sheriff was charged with illegal actions, as libelous. This latter suit will be tried in the Livingston circuit. The progress of the two suits will be watched with interest.
