H. P. Dodge is building a large extension to his store and residence.

Mrs. Ida R. Holmes has put an addition to her already handsome residence. 

D. F. Smith & Son, killed a Poland China hog Monday that dressed 535 pounds.

Pray Bros. will build two more dwelling houses this fall unless the weather gets too frigid.

There were a few up this way who thought Jake Schuh would be defeated. What execrable judgment.

O. D. Moore has let the job of painting the new ice house to McMahon & Fohey. This is an immense job.

Waltie Spligelberg will be married in a few days and the boys say, Gee Whiz, wait 'til it occurs and then!

The winter term of school began Monday with Myron Atchison as teacher and an attendance of 35 scholars.

G. Smith was in town today in the interests of that the little traveler fence machine. The machine builds 14 different kinds of wire fences but the main claim is a hog and sheep fence and to see it will convince the most skeptical. Mr. Smith is one of Northfield's hustlers and will make success if indomitable energy amounts to anything. This is his first venture and we trust will win him all kinds of success.
