Last Of A Famous Family

Paterson, N. J., Nov. 16.- Miss Caroline Swartout, 92 years old, is dead at her home here. Miss Swartout was the last lineal descendant of a family well known in New York and New Jersey. She was the daughter of John Swartout, who was the personal friend of Aaron Burr, and his second in the duel with Alexander Hamilton. After the duel Burr took refuge in the Swartout home.
