THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS.

The University Calendar Will Show 3192 Names.

The University Calendar, which will shortly be issued will contain the names of 3,192 different students in the University of Michigan in 1898-9. The number exclusive of the summer school students is 3,059. This number is arrived at after deducting 64 names of students who are in more than one department. There were 235 students in the summer school last year of whom 102 were enrolled in other departments of the university. The Michigan students number 1,869, the Illinois students 328, the Ohio students 199 and from Indiana 113. The following is the enrollment in the various departments: Literary department 1,285, Engineering 245, Medical 455, Law 765, Pharmaceutical 81, Homoeopathic 68, and Dental 234.
