Turned a summersault.

A thus saved himself from injury.

A great acrobatic feat was performed on S. Main st. Wednesday evening about 9 o'clock. A race was on between a bicycle and a young man. The bicycle was in the street and the runner was on the east sidewalk headed north. In front of the store of John Goetz, jr., preparation is being made for a new sidewalk and the old walk has been removed leaving an open area space about seven feet deep. High railings had been placed on each side of it. The runner did not know this until he was right upon it with such momentum that he could not stop. He turned a complete summersault landing on his feet seven feet below. He immediately jumped out and went his way not deigning to leave his name and address.
