THE HERMIT'S CHILD

DAUGHTER OF JAMFS RIDHARDS THANKS JUDGE NEWKIRK

For the $670 She Received Out of the Estate of Her Father Who Was Murdered.

Judge of Probate Newkirk has the satisfaction of knowing that he has made one person happy. It was through his watchful care that the interests of Sarah Jane Pierce, of Axminster, England, daughter of the late James Richards of Dixboro, who was murdered, were secured. The judge sent her $670 in a draft. He today received a letter substantially as follows:

Axminster, Eng., April 17, 1899. Estate Jas. Richards, deceased.

Honored Sir:--I desire to thank you for the interest you took in settling my father's estate, whereby I received £138, which I would not have received but for you, and your assistance to my English solicitor Mr. Forward.

Again I thank you for the kindly interest you took in my welfare, gratuitously, though a stranger, and hope you will live many years to fill the honorable position you now hold. Yours obediently,

SARAH JANE PEARCE.
