That President Boone and Prof. Simmons Were Asked to Resign.

The following special telegram from Lansing appeared in the Detroit Tribune this morning:

"Lansing, Mich., Special Telegram, June 5.Persons who ought to know assert that not only has the state board of education asked for the resignation of President Boone of the Michigan Normal college, but the request also includes the resignation of Prof. J. W. Simmons, director of the training department of the college. It is further asserted that President Boone will be succeeded by Supt. A. S. Whitney, of Saginaw, while Simmons's successor will be Supt. C. T. Grawn, of Traverse City."

The Argus has made a careful and thorough investigation of the matter and finds on good authority that there is not a single grain of truth in it. Up to the present time there has been no action by the state board of education at all.
