Either you can attend the Ann Arbor Opera House or the New Theater

Dean M. Seabolt Will Remodel the Opera House

A few days ago the Daily Argus mentioned exclusively that Dean M. Seabolt has the lease of the opera house and will re-model it.  Tuesday Mr. Seabolt returned from New York, where he had gone to persuade the owners of the building to alter parts of the house, which they did to the benefit of both.

The carpeting, tapestry, curtains and furniture will be furnished by Martin Haller's furniture store.  The decorating contract has not yet been let and there will also be a new curtain.  Mr. Seabolt also contemplates erecting a stationary awning reaching over the walk.

Besides these welcome changes he says he will erase the name of Athens Theatre and will name it the Ann Arbor Opera House.  He claims that it is the name most everybody knows it by and will also advertise the name of the town.  The new leasee is certainly a hustler and will no doubt succeed in his undertaking.

W. Randolph MacGregor Will Build an Opera House

W. Randolph McGregor returned Tuesday evening from the north, where he had been on business, and he reiterated what was stated in the Argus on May 24, that he is negotiating for the erection of a new opera house in this city.  However, he claims that they have not as yet settled on one of the three sites offered

Mr. MacGregor asserted that a capitalist and theatrical gentleman of Chicago was in the city and is much pleased with Ann Arbor as a theatre town.  Said he: "I expect the plans every day from Chicago and I can then let your know what we can do."

According to a description of the plans they intend to lease the second story for offices and a certain society in this city has already asked for the third floor for a lodge room and part of the second for club rooms and parlors.  "It will be an up-to-date house you can just bet," said he, "and will be larger than the present one."
