   Miss Isabel Lockwood has closed her school in Willis.

    Mr. Schaffer is still looking up the records of the soldiers.

    Rev. F. O. Jones and wife are entertaining guests from abroad.

   Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Kelley visited Ann Arbor the first of the week.

      Prof. and Mrs. O. M. Fuller and Hazel spent Monday in Ann Arbor.

    Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Noble, of Detroit are the guests of Atty. and Mrs. G. B. Williams.

    Vacation has commenced. Teachers have gone to their several homes and the scholars are wondering what they will do next.

     Children's day was observed in the Baptist church in the morning and in the Presbyterian church in the evening in an appropriate manner.

   The 14th annual commencement oí the Milan high school was held at Gay's opera house on the evening of June 8. The decorations were artistic, the music furnished by the Ann Arbor orchestra was fine. The graduates who numbered nine did honor to themselves and instructors. Prof. Carrick's speech on presenting the diplomas was scholarly and full of good advice. The class of '99 presented him with an elegant silver  bonbon dish and spoon as a token of their love and esteem.

   Friday evening the first alumni banquet was held at the I. O. O. F. parlors, the Daughters of Rebecca did the catering. The banquet was sumptuous. Prof. Carrick as toastmaster was a success. The responses from the different classes were fine. Circuit Court Commissioner Wm. Murray responded for the class of '93 and was given three cheers for being a soldier in the Cuban war. The event was the swell affair of the season and was elegant from start to finish. Kev. F. O. Jones made some fine remarks. The Monroe City Mandolin Club played some fine selections. At the suggestion of Prof. Carrick the alumni organized a society under the head of the alumni of the Milan public schools. Mrs. Cora Gump, nee C. Hitchcock of the class of '85 was elected president. 

   Secretary, Wilmer Robison, class of '93; treasurer, Miss Florence Chapin, of the class of '97. Prof. Carrick has been persuaded to reconsider his resignation and will remain another year greatly to the joy of Milan people.
