About 9 o'clock last evening four Italians were attacked near Regents' field  by five hoboes. Two of the Italians out and run away. Louis Maestro and son the owners of a monkey and hand organ stood their ground and defended themselves. Louis was stabbed in the neck and his coat cut in several places. The hoboes secured $1.50 from the father but the son resisted so stoutly that the hobos did not secure his money, amounting to nearly $32. Marshal Gerstner and Deputy Sheriff Fred Gillen and Officer Sweet took the matter in hand and arrested five tramps but they could not be identified by the Italians. Three of these tramps were caught in a box car on the Michigan Central. This morning four more tramps were arrested. Two of them gave their ages as 19 years old. They claimed their homes as being in Galveston, Tex. , Dayton, Ky. ,Port Huron, Mich., and Springfield., Mass. Marshal Gerstner says he is determined to clear the city of tramps and they will be arrested on sight and given as long sentences as the law will permit.
