The troubles which have been brewing for some time in the School of Musie have happily been amicably settled. The school has had a corp of very fine musicians on its faculty, but as is known to our citizens, differences have arisen between them, which have been undoubtedly fostered, magnified and intensified by outside musicians who have looked with more or less feelings of jealousy upon the growing fame of the School of Music. The ability of all the members of the faculty was clearly recognized and appreciated by the board of managers of the school. But it was recently seen that complete harmony could not be restored unless all the members of the faculty could work in unison. Prof. Herman A. Zeitz, who fully realized this, has tendered his resignation from the faculty and the board has accepted it. As some recognition of his good work they have also voted him a month's salary. Prof. Zeitz leaves with the best of feeling towards him from the school authorities and the public. His recent good work as conductor of the Choral Union at the May Festival won him many  high encomiums not only from the members of the Choral Union but from outside musicians. He is an able teacher and a good musician and there has been nothing in the unfortunate differences which had arisen to in any way reflect upon his standing as a man.

The School ot Music is in better shape for the next year than it has ever been in and it is to be hoped that the outcome will be even better than the present promising outlook.
