THE PRESIDENCY OF NORMAL SYSTEM OF MICHIGAN.

He is Superintendent of the Cleveland Schools and Will Get a $6,000 Salary.

The Presidency of the normal school system of the state according to a Cleveland dispatch has been offered to Superintendent L. C. Jones, of the Cleveland public schools at an increase of salary. His present salary is $5,000. If $6,000 will bring him he will probably be the first president under the new regime. Supt. Jones would make an admirable man for the place. He is thoroughly acquainted with the normal school problem, is a graduate of the Oswego state normal school, of New York, and has been superintendent of schools at Indianapolis and Cleveland for many years. He is a ripe scholar, an able executive and has great ability in the working out of educational theories. He was one of those whose names were first mentioned in connection with the place.

Charles D. Poston, upon whom the Territory of Arizona has just conferred a pension of $25 a month, is known as "The Father of Arizona." He is the first delegate to Congress from that section. He has been a world-wide traveler, and is full of stories of China sea pirates and how he governed his little Kingdom of Tubac.
