Whitmore Lake, Aug. 3. - (Special to Daily Argus. ) - Yesterday Jankey, Mr. Moody, Fred Showerman, Ross Granger, Jas. E Burke, Geo. Rauschenberger and Ed. Hangsterfer took Jas. Burke's double team and went to Silver Like to fish, which they did with a vengeance bringing back 40 black bass, three pickerel, 19 silver bass and about 20 ponnds of perch and yon never saw a crowd so exhiierated in your life. Ed. Hangsterfer declared he won all side bets on qnantity of fish taken. Miss Emma Herey, of Denver, Colo. , is visitiug Whitmore Lake after a five years' absence. Miss Herey was teacher in our scbool abont five years ago and was one of the best teachers we ever had. ., She is kept bnsy eutertaining and beiag entertained by her i old pupils who are all delighted to see her again. Last night Fred Zeeb had a very exciting time with his gpirited horse while at Dr. Nichols' office, the horse became nnnianageable and ran down Wiod st. tarned the corner at the Lake heuse and ran straight through the Lake hotise barn and carne to a stand stil! confronting a high fence. The carriage was badly damaged bnt Fred came out of the wreek all right. The pare air of onr resort bas been rendered perilous foi the past month by the sickening stenoh which comes froni the hog pen near the cheese factory anrl if the health officer don 't look into I the matter contageons disease will rnu throngh the whoie commnnity and we trnst the nnisance will be abated at once. A word to tne wise is snfficient you know. The Pray family aasembled at the old bomestead which at the preeent time corisists of four geuerations and this without any preconcerted plau. They are visiting Mrs. Eiizabeth Pray, who bas beeu a resident of Whitmore Lake 42 years and is owned by everybody as grandma Pray and at the age of 72 is as spry as mostwomen of 60. The yonng people in the Pray addition are having a barrel of sport these evenings. They play croquet, cboosing sides and the losing sides have to buy the ice creatn. Tnesday night Jay G. Pray was mnlcted to the tnne of $1.20 and last night Dr. RusseJl Atchison bemg the loser Pray took advantage of it and invited abont 20 of bis friends as tbey went to the ice creara parlors wnich lightened the doctors pnrse S2 wortb.
