An Old Landmark which was Torn Down in Ypsilanti.
In the removal of the old Showers residence to the outskirts of Ypsilanti yesterday one of the old landmarks of Ypsilanti was obliterated. The building was erected about 1830 by James Saunders, then sheriff of Washtenaw county was used by him and his family for many years, but finally passed into the possession of strangers. The building was small, square in shape, contained four rooms on the first floor and three above. A peculiarity of its construction was that the space between the clapboards and the inner part of the wall was filled with a layer of brick. Throughout the building the workmanship was excellent.
