The accident yesterday afternoon at he Sigma Phi house was more serious than first expected. Merrill L, Tice, a painter fell from the roof to the ground and injured his back bone, becoming paralyzed from the abdomen downward. He had no sensation in his limbs. He was taken to the University hospital where he was operated upon this morning. A srnall piece of the vertebrae, supposed to be pressing on the spinal cord, was removed. Dr. Conrad Georg, Jr., house physician, is in hopes that Mr. Tice may recover, but he will have a very serious time. Mr. Tice is married and much sympathy is felt for him.
