JUDGE WADE NOT IN THE RACE

Report that he will not run for Governor of Iowa.

Des Moines, Ia., Aug 14. - Judge Martin J. Wade, of Iowa City, who has been pushed vigorously for two or three days for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination at the state convention next Wednesday, is now considered out of the race. The announcement comes from his home that he does not desire his name to be presented to the convention. He has nearly a full term yet to serve on the bench, and prefers it to making a campaign for the governorship.

He was presented and urged as a compromise between Cato Sells and S. H. Bashor, who are left the only two prominent Democrats. Many politicians say Sells will also withdraw, as he has taken the position that he would not run unless practically unanimously nominated. Indications are that Bashor will be nominated, as he is considered much stronger than Sells with the delegates.
