2 MONTHS MARRIED LIFE

The Divorce Case Gale vs. Gale.

On July 11, George F. Gale, a prominent farmer of Superior, commenced a suit for divorce against his wife, Carrie Gale. The parties were married Feb. 8, 1883, and he charges that two months after the ceremony was performed, she willfully deserted him.

But now comes the wife, who is living in Flint, and wants a piece of his $20,000 worth of property, which she claims he owns. She puts in a cross bill and answer, and says that instead of her deserting her husband, he deserted her. She says that at the time of the marriage, her husband promised that he would not compel her to go to his fathers home in Superior but afterwards insisted that she should do so. She alleges that she was subjected to cruel annoyances from the father and that she talked the matter over with her husband, when it was agreed that she should go home to her step-mother until he could provide another place for her, and since then he has done nothing for her support.

She sets forth that her husbands property, or a portion of it, is held in trust by other parties, but it is in truth the property of the husband and she asks that these matters be inquired into.

She also asks for temporary alimony.
