A Paris manufacturer named Person has just been convicted of selling canned horseflesh as potted duck, hare, etc. He said like Sam Weller's friend, that it was "all in the seasoning," and that he could make horse into duck or hare according as tastes differed. The letters on the cans, "M. T.," meant not "Mention honorable," as purchasers had supposed, but "Melange hippophagique," The judge gave Mr. Person eight months.
