J. Rice Miner Is Heard From

                      NOW A SOLDIER IN THE PHILIPPINES.

                    SAILED FROM SEATTLE AUGUST 18.

J. Rice Miner, who left this city suddenly some time ago, has ' en heard from with a definiteness that forbids any mistake.

At the outbreak of the Spanish war he enlisted with an Arkansas regiment and was for a long time stationed at the fort opposite Washington, D. C.
He was mustered out and then enlisted in a cavalry troop in the regular service.

He sailed from Seattle with his regiment oh Aug. 18, and is now in the Philippines, fighting for Uncle Sam
